InfoCeptians Conduct Hygiene Awareness Campaign in Slums of Nagpur
4 Teams | 4 Target Areas | 40+ InfoCeptians |800+ Beneficiaries (including children, adults and senior citizens)
“A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary in 2019,” said our honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Swachh Bharat Mission at Rajpath in New Delhi, 2014.
Working towards materializing this vision and as a next step in the upliftment of slum dwellers, a team consisting of InfoCepts volunteers decided to spread awareness related to personal and environmental hygiene in the slums of Nagpur (Bhandewadi, Motibagh, Mecosabagh and behind IT Park Area). Since iCARE is already connected with one or more projects in these vicinities, hence selected them so as to enhance the effectiveness of this program. And what could be the best day to start something good for people of our nation than our own independence day. Hence, on the occasion of 71st Independence Day, 15th August 2017, four iCARE teams consisting of InfoCepts volunteers visited these slums and shared some valuable tips related to cleanliness and hygiene.
This was a 90 minutes activity in the morning, and was executed simultaneously at all four centres. Community members gathered at a central place near their homes where teams educated them on how to keep their homes and surrounding neat and clean. Few enthusiastic associates went a step ahead and met people by reaching door to door, and elaborated them on values of basic hygiene practices like brushing teeth regularly and washing hands before and after meals.
Adding value to this program, the volunteers gave them the hygiene kits, that contained a set of Tooth Brush, Tooth Paste and Soap. The activity concluded with sweet distribution.
All of us know that multiple things can be done for these community members who are struggling to survive and feel helpless. iCARE team through this activity, took a small step in lifting up their lives a little bit.
