Sunshine Students Attended Career Guidance Seminar at InfoCepts
Saturday, 05th August 2017 |9 AM to 11 AM
As we say, “Nothing Succeeds Like Success” and career guidance is the focal point for one to ensure success. Further, getting the right guidance at the right time is imperative. Continuing on the path of solicitude for the ones who need it the most, iCARE team organized a “Career Guidance Seminar” for the students of Sunshine Foundation on 5th August, 2017. More than 30 students from 9th standard to under-graduate courses attended this seminar. These students belong to economically weaker sections and struggle to find subsistence resources to take up higher education. Hence, the focus of this seminar was to encourage such students to have a ‘learn’ and ‘earn’ strategy to help them improve their position in society.
The event began with a session by Dr. Micah Aiyub (Manager – Training & Development, InfoCepts), enlightening the students on various career opportunities they can seek immediately after their high school and beyond. The students passionately participated in discussions to understand the importance of taking right career path and having a clear sight of goals. They interacted with Micah and sought guidance on topics like defence, event management, off beat careers and even entrepreneurship.
“Every Lock has its own unique key”. And hence, the next step included a one-on-one interaction of iCARE Volunteers with students who were divided into groups as per their streams (Science, Commerce, Arts and ITI). This session involved detailed discussion of various aspects like choosing from myriads of career options, individual skills, course duration, individual interests, basic requirements, importance of a clear goal and having the right attitude. Individual queries were addressed in the open dialogue between volunteers and students.
Pictorial hand outs were given to all the students, which contained graphical representation of different career options, their course duration, and information about various competitive and entrance exams. The students were extremely joyful and felt motivated. All of them were able to align themselves to particular career goals and were clear on how to prepare for the same.
The event concluded with snacks as students mingled and freely interacted with InfoCeptians and shared their feedback about the event. Miss. Deepti Karat (Director-Sunshine Foundation), expressed her gratitude to InfoCepts CSR for conducting such a fruitful program.
Thanks to the unparalleled dedication of Madhura Kelkar, Mandaar Mantri, Ankita Bhattacharya, Kushal Sudan, Mayank Agrawal, Saumeil Shah, Rahul Barange, Riddhi Kapse, Gaurav Doifode and Raghuvaran Pandian who volunteered and worked hard to make this event a huge success.
